Activities
The company 'Land SA' is a private legal entity and has the purpose of study, preparation and operation of the National Cadastre in a flexible, efficient and safe.
The Land Registry is a single system to record the legal, technical and other additional information property rights and those which are kept with the responsibility and the government guarantee.
The pension is designed to create a modern, fully automated file property, all items which have probative value.
The sole shareholder is the Ministry PE.CHO.DE.
Challenges
The National Land recognized as an essential task for modern Greece to which, among others, achieved definitive consolidation of ownership of natural and legal persons.
The improvement and modernization of information infrastructure in the Land Inc., the project was of strategic importance, which will enhance transparency and security in the transfer of immovable property, simplifying procedures and reducing bureaucracy.
The Cadastres SA wanted to create an environment where information can be combined maximum availability, good performance and scalability, with the possibility of Cadastres AU to continue to develop its own web-enabled applications based on specific operational data and the accumulated expertise.
With the number of properties to run in 2008 to 22 million and that of the rights to 40 million, needs to store reach around 500 TeraBytes for scanned documents and 100 TeraBytes for digital maps and photos.
The volume of stored data, coupled with the need for simultaneous access to storage in different register offices makes the field of performance especially important.
Moreover, as one of the major systems of government, the new system of Land SA will be able to communicate with other systems and exchange information for the benefit of society.
The solution of EMC
The Land SA needed a system that is built on the basis of maximum data security and the highest availability. Therefore, the solution included the interface of a primary and a secondary data center in a way that guarantees a very high availability, high performance in terms of access, data recovery and protection of stored data in the event of a disaster center.
The project was funded by the European Union by 50% and the choice of contractor was made following an international tender.
"The competition was attended by the best known manufacturers in both equipment and software," said Mr Lefteris Lykouropoulos, Director of Land Information Systems in SA.
The Unisystems (group company Info-Quest) and Space Hellas, undertaken jointly by the project to Cadastre SA using solutions from EMC. This success came to seal one years of collaboration between EMC and Unisystems, in public sector projects.
The solution based on EMC's products EMC Symmetrix and Clarion, which are connected via switches or directors of the family EMC Connectrix. For disaster recovery solution was selected EMC Symmetrix Remote Data Facility, while also upgraded the existing system of SAN Land SA, also series products EMC Clarion.

The EMC has completed implementation of its system and delivered a primary and a backup data center, centers for high availability that meet the operational requirements of the client.
