Uni Systems provides a wide range of cataloguing and documentation services to a Library’s or Archive’s material. Experienced librarians, archivists and scientists work as a team in order to fulfill each projects needs.


Operations which are included into cataloguing services:

  • Descriptive cataloging where each record contains bibliographic information/description about the item.
  • Subject cataloging where for each title
  • Creation of item records, according to library needs and policies (e.g. circulation rules, library collections, library departments, etc).


Bibliographic description consists of systematical classification of an item’s elements, based on the International Standards of IBD’s (International Bibliographic Descriptions’) and the AACR manual [(ACCR 2) Anglo American Cataloguing Rules].


The Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR) are designed for use in the construction of catalogues and other lists in general libraries of all sizes. The rules cover the description of, and the provision of access points for, all library materials commonly collected at the present time.


Operations of documentation services for historical archives:

  • Mapping of the archived material and reorganization of it according to standards (e.g. EAD = Encoded Archival Description)
  • Special information tracing regarding the archival collection
  • Country code designation, Archive’s code specification according to International Standards of Archives Coding
  • Title and date description of archival material
  • Definition of classification level
  • Definition and description of size, quantity, volume and dimensions of the material

The above services are provided with a) Library’s or Archive’s pre-installed software or b) as a service with the use of Uni Systems software.
