Thinking Differently about Infrastructure:
One-day conference on IT infrastructure technologies hosted by Uni Systems and IDC a great success!
Uni Systems’ one-day conference ‘Thinking Differently about Infrastructure’, which was organized by IDC, was highly successful. The conference, attended by more than 170 participants from all market sectors, was held to review, under a new perspective, the transformation of the Data Centre into a Cloud environment and to present solutions that reduce the ever-increasing cost and infrastructure complexity of a Data Centre.
Dr. Antonis Oikonomou, Advisor to the Special Secretariat of Digital Planning, opened the conference with welcome remarks and went on to describe, in detail, the "G-Cloud" vision, to be implemented for the account of Information Society S.A., the General Secretariat for Information Systems and GrNet.
The conference was held with the support of major IT Infrastructure manufacturers— EMC, Cisco, HP, CA, Citrix, Fujitsu, Oracle, Symantec, NetApp and APC—all close associates of Uni Systems.
Experts from these industry leaders, from Greece and abroad, reviewed the integrated transformation of a Data Center into a Cloud environment, making references to new trends in Unified Storage, De-duplication & Compression, Storage & Backup-to-cloud, Tiering, Replication and Application Virtualization for the purpose of utilizing Data Centre resources more efficiently and saving resources and energy, directly and without delay.
For the first time a systems integration company was supported at an event of this nature by the majority of its most important associates.Unique for this conference was that participants had the opportunity to actively see the topic under discussion as there was a live link from the conference room with the Cloud Secure Lab established by Uni Systems; participants could take a close look at the operation of a Private Cloud.More information on the conference is available on IDC’s website at www.idc-cema.com/events/Infrastructure10GR
